3 Essential Relaxation Techniques for Self-Care and Better Sleep

3 essential relaxation tips for self-care and better sleep by Aleah Stander

These 3 essential relaxation techniques for self-care and better sleep may be obvious to some, but I ALWAYS need a reminder to do more self-care. In a constant on-the-go world, it’s really hard to give ourselves personal time and attention. We spend a lot of our day taking care of others, so let me just remind you: You must take care of yourself also! This will help you show up stronger and better to the people around you.

Here are 3 essential relaxation steps for self-care and better sleep:

  1. Mentally unwind. At a certain point before bed, start to wind down for the night. Stop checking work emails. Stop having stressful conversations. If you have pent up stress, try a long walk outside, light yoga or stretching.
  2. Take a bath or long relaxing shower. Spend extra time on your beauty routines. I love using a face mask & doing facial massage in a robe with a podcast or relaxing music playing.
  3. Sleep 7+ hours a night. Figure out how much you need and commit to getting it. Go to bed before you’re tired. Make your bedroom a zen place for sleep. Burn some lavender essential oils before bed or put them on your pillow – or both! Be extra, nobody else will know, except your husband who then wants oils on his pillow too HA!

When we hear the word recovery, we usually think of physical, but mental recovery is just as important. What are your favorite things to do for relaxation and better sleep? Share your tips below in the comments!
