As a first time mom, as soon as I peed on a stick and got a positive result, I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. However, we kept my pregnancy a secret from the social media world for 16 weeks. Now I can finally share we’re pregnant and 5 tips on getting pregnant faster I learned while trying to conceive.
Behind all the gorgeous pregnancy announcements and happy news, there were seven frustrating months of trying to conceive. If you’re like me, you’re convinced from a young age that you can get pregnant just by looking at a boy. So discovering it may be slightly more complicated than that was eye-opening!
I know many people try for much longer, so please know I am only sharing my journey and hope these tips can help others. I WISH I had known these things right at the beginning of trying. Here are five tips on getting pregnant faster that I learned along my TTC journey:
Hydration & lower caffeine
So many of us are guilty of powering through life with caffeine? I know it wasn’t just me! Try to cut coffee back to 1 cup/day and drink a ton of water. This helps lower stress as well!
Sleep
This does not mean only getting enough, quality sleep, but also getting on a regular sleep schedule (falling asleep around the same time and waking up around the same time). The sleep cycle impacts your circadian rhythm, which controls all other hormones.
Use an app to track ovulation and fertility signs
There are multiple ways to test ovulation. Knowing around when you ovulate is very powerful information when trying to get pregnant! For my more tech-savvy people, I used to the Natural Cycles app, which comes with a basal thermometer. For those with abnormal cycle lengths (like me), this was major for knowing when the right time to do the baby dance is each month! Tracking cervical mucus
I know, I know. I also resisted this for so long because I thought it was gross (just being honest), but trust me after a few months; you’ll do just about anything! When you see egg white vaginal discharge (wet, watery, slightly stretchy), you are likely about to ovulate, and you should find time to baby dance!
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a great, natural way to help boost fertility by balancing hormones. It also helps lower stress, which aids in conceiving. I recommend finding an acupuncturist in your area who specializes in pregnancy.
