Grow Long Healthy Hair with these 10 Tips & Products by Aleah Stander

Let’s dive into the ten tips and products to grow long, healthy hair. Anyone who’s tried to grow their hair long knows how frustrating and stressful it can be! It’s also a waiting game; however, there are many things to do to decrease hair damage, improve the health of your hair, and help your hair grow! If you’re looking to grow you hair, this list includes hair care tips, treatments, and supplements to grow your natural hair faster, thicker, and longer.

How to Grow Long Healthy Hair

(1) Nutritious whole food diet for hair growth

First, there is no better way to give your body all the vitamins and minerals it needs to grow long hair like a healthy diet. Consider adding more dark green vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats to what you eat. Biotin, the main vitamin for hair growth, is high in egg yolks, almonds, sweet potatoes, and spinach. Omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin c also help promote hair health.

(2) No damage hairbrush and detangler & avoid heat styling

Pulling roughly on hair can cause hair damage. This brush the best no damage hairbrush that I’ve used for years. Also, a great detangler & conditioner is linked here. Be gentle when brushing hair, the less tugging, the less damage!

(3) Decrease the number of times you bleach on your hair to make your hair grow

Talk to your hairstylist about a plan to decrease bleaching to make your hair grow. Every time hair is bleached; it causes damage and potential split ends. Instead of bleaching hair every month, try to hold back to 2-3 times per year. However, you can tint your hair as often as you’d like since that does not damage hair follicles.

(4) Take a collagen protein supplement

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body. Collagen production decreases as we get older, which is why many people turn to collagen supplements for healthy hair, skin, and nails. Therefore, this brand is my recommendation, and they sell a fish collagen option for vegetarians. Collagen can promote hair growth and help hair grow faster, especially after postpartum hair loss. Also, this brand of plant protein powder is amazing!

(5) Take a multivitamin

When trying to grow hair healthy, try the multivitamin I take every day. It contains biotin, which can thicken hair and stimulate growth. You can buy any multivitamin or biotin supplement to make hair grow faster.

(6) Hair treatment and hair masks

This is the hair treatment tons of women swear by for healthy hair growth. The active ingredient repairs damaged hair and protects hair structure. Don’t believe me, check the reviews! You may consider a hair mask a few times per month to build stronger hair and longer hair.

(7) Decrease heat use on hair

Try to stay away from flat irons. Also, to make your hair grow faster decrease heat styling and chemical treatments. When using hot tools, a heat protectant can help avoid breakage.

(8) Wash hair less often

Washing your hair frequently strips the natural oils from the hair. You’ll need to test and find a cadence that works for you, but I try to do 1-2x/week. I’ve heard of others going for two weeks! Furthermore, find a great dry shampoo and hair oil to keep hair looking fresh between washes.

(9) Wear no-damage hair ties to avoid hair loss

Hair ties can easily pull and damage hair. These are my favorite hair ties on Amazon that are workout and thick hair approved! They help avoid breakage on all hair types.

(10) Sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase

Finally, sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase that allows hair to glide across the pillow with less tugging and pulling on hair follicles. Bonus, they’re also great for the skin and stress.
